Founder Peter Schurman started Plastic Forming Company in 1965. He invented the process for blow-molding double-walled cases and tool boxes, and garnered more than 50 patents in plastics and packaging design. PFC cases soon became known for their durability, product protection, design details, and moderate cost. The market and the company grew rapidly as the cases became the preferred method to package consumer and industrial products, including hand tools and power tools, chain saws, camping lanterns, and postage meters. To accommodate that growth, PFC established and licensed other companies in the U.S. and in Europe and concentrated on product design and development, mold building, and the design, development, manufacture, and sale of blow molding equipment for its licensees.
In the early 1980s, we developed a proprietary line of cases for a broad array of products sold by small and medium-sized manufacturers and distributors. Among the many products now packaged in PFC cases are: professional hand and power tools, portable test instruments and meters, microscopes, surveying transits and other optical devices, heart monitors and other medical devices, educational kits, and countless new inventions. We carry both standard cases and custom cases with many options to meet every client need. To complement our proprietary line of cases, we also manufacture foam inserts and trays.
In 1989, we created an employee stock ownership plan, or ESOP, that transferred a significant portion of our Company's ownership to our employees. It was a good decision for us, and it is a great decision for you, our customer. Everyone who works here has a deeply vested interest in the success of our company and your product.
To foster that success, we work shoulder to
shoulder with you from the beginning. We're on-site
at one of our two manufacturing facilities here in
the U.S. Our first goal is to understand your
business and your product needs. We will start by
asking you a lot of questions and we'll listen
carefully to your answers. Doing so helps us create
new opportunities for you and avoid unanticipated
problems. Don't worry if you don't know all the
answers just yet. Our goal is to make you feel as
comfortable and confident with the process as you
will be with the final product. Our clients range
from people who represent multinational corporations
to entrepreneurs who are bringing their first
product to market.
